2012 Field Day

June 23 & 24

The 2011 Field day was held at Palmer Auto

Palmer Auto Service in downtown Chelsea.

A portable antenna tower with many long wire HF antennas, 4 HF transceivers, 1 desktop server computer with 4 wireless network laptop logging computers and 2 Honda generators for communications power was  setup on Saturday morning to create the 2011,

WD8IEL 4A Mi   Field Day station

Why have a Field Day ?

Field Day enables Amateur Radio stations to practice emergency communications in a temporary environment situation. To simulate the loss of an infrastructure power source, generators are used to power the radio communications equipment.

Points are acquired by making radio contacts and exchanging contact information with other Amateur Radio stations participating in the 24 hour Field Day event.

At the close of the event, the contact information or also known as the Station Log is sent to the ARRL Amateur Radio Relay League. The ARRL then compares all the participating station logs and compiles the matching contacts into points and awards the high point stations.

The Chelsea Amateur Radio Club would like to thank Palmer Auto Service for the use of their facility for the 2011 Field Day.
